Voice Alchemy Session with Decolonizing Kiki
Dr. Kiki Steiner
Dr. Kiki Steiner will present a Voice Alchemy session which focuses on releasing stories of shame around the voice and deepening one’s relationship with their voice through simple vocalizations and singing exercises. Dr. Kiki combines meditation, body + voice activation, and singing to facilitate self-led healing within virtual community spaces. Dr. Kiki will also present on her journey to decolonization, the implications it has had on siya’s educational philosophies and creativity, and the embodiment of decolonization in siya’s work as founder of Decolonizing Kiki LLC.

The Science of Voice & Trauma: What We (Don’t) Know
Dr. Elisa Monti
In this workshop, we will explore different approaches to looking at the trauma-voice relationship and reflect on how they inform our field, our daily practices, and our perspectives. Throughout this dialogues, we will discuss different types of existing evidence on how trauma can impact the voice and we will reflect on related implications, limitations, and future directions.

Grounding, Safety, & Boundaries in Singing
Carlita Victoria
Carlita will lead us in a class in which she’ll guide us exploring how anxiety may appear in auditions and performances, share her own testimonial about how trauma has impacted her physical, emotional and mental experiences in auditions, and give us support tools that we may use when singing, including movement and breath & sound practices. Carlita will work with singers on honoring where they are in the moment, creating safe spaces, & setting boundaries in the industry for their mental health.

The Singing Body & Trauma
Jay Colwell
Jay Colwell, Founder of the The Singing Body Clinic, will lead us in a talk about stress - what it is, how to manage, and its relationship to trauma and the physiology of trauma & social engagement. He will also discuss the autonomic state & the implication on the singing body, breathing, and posture and lead us in a guided "self-regulation" practice.

Finding Your Voice

As singers, we spend a great deal of time trying to understand our fears and concerns mentally, yet our voices hold the key to their resolution as well as to our healing. Join vocal coach, therapist, and author Jennifer Hamady in this interactive master class to explore the wisdom and truths that our voices hold and tell. Both performers and observers will take away rich knowledge about the impacts of neuro-linguistic programming on our voices and selves, as well as the power of the voice and body to reveal and heal the wounds we carry.
